Data and sources
Data version public-2026-10-13.2, built 2026-10-12T16:44:41Z. No private doctor rating, award or hospital ranking is included or counted in scores. Specialties come from each physician's NPI taxonomy code and CMS specialty, matched to the specialty names used here by their official names. The hospital and children's hospital websites we read were chosen partly from published lists.

Coverage
| What | Doctors |
|---|---|
| US physicians with an active NPI record under a physician (MD or DO) taxonomy, not counting 32,172 records that are probably not physicians (see below). An NPI record does not show that a doctor is licensed or still practicing; state medical boards hold licenses. | 1,240,084 |
| With facts from their hospital system’s own website | 279,954 |
| With a focus listed on a hospital website, as standard MeSH terms | 82,283 |
| With a Medicare 2024 volume in at least one of the 81 procedure groups | 88,666 |
| On the CMS Medicare opt-out list (flagged with a warning) | 13,948 |
Records registered under a physician taxonomy that are probably not physicians (nurse practitioners, physician assistants and similar) are left out of searches unless you search by name, and are then marked with a warning.
What a doctor’s evidence can hold
From official files, for every physician where the file has them:
- Registered specialty, practice locations and phone numbers, each with where the phone came from.
- Medical school and graduation year, hospital affiliations and medical group (CMS clinician file).
- Medicare 2024 patients and patient mix, and procedure volumes ranked against other doctors’ Medicare 2024 volumes, nationally and by state. A rank compares Medicare volume only, not quality and not care paid by other insurers.
- Medicare Part D 2024 prescribing summary, and signals where claims lean clearly toward one condition’s medicines (more such patients, not quality).
- Industry payments 2024–2025 and named principal investigator on industry-sponsored research (CMS Open Payments).
- MIPS 2024 score.
- Warnings: OIG federal exclusion list, CMS Medicare opt-out list.
From the doctor’s hospital-system website, where we read a profile page:
- Focus areas as standard NLM MeSH terms (not the page’s own wording), with a link to the page and the date we read it.
- Languages, education, board certifications, new-patient status, office phones and addresses.
- At some hospital systems, the page’s list of insurers. It is a lead to confirm with the practice, not a network check.
What an empty field means
An empty or missing field means we have no record of it, not “no”. A doctor without a listed focus may still treat the condition; a doctor without a new-patient status may be accepting patients. Ask the practice.
What is not here
- No private doctor ratings, awards or hospital rankings (see the note at the top).
- No patient reviews and no outcome measures for individual doctors. The only quality figure is the CMS MIPS 2024 score, which is usually reported for the whole practice group.
- No insurance network data from insurers, and no appointment availability.
- No patient records of any kind.
