# FindADoctor.si

> Doctor data for AI agents, country by country: official records and facts from doctors' own hospital pages, served over MCP and an HTTP JSON API. Countries: United States, New Zealand (more planned). One MCP address serves every country; each country also has its own HTTP API. Not medical advice; in an emergency, call your local emergency number (911 in the US, 111 in New Zealand).

## One MCP address for every country

- MCP (Streamable HTTP): https://api.findadoctor.si/mcp
- Decide the country first: where the person wants to see a doctor, from the place they mention or what you know about where they live. If nothing settles it (no place given, or a place name used in more than one country, such as Hamilton, with no other clue), ask the person before searching. Do not guess, and do not search every country.
- Then pass `country` (`US` or `NZ`) to `search_doctors`, `list_specialties` and `about_database`. Left out, `country` is the United States, for clients that connected before other countries were added.
- `get_doctor` reads the country from the doctor id (`dr_` = United States, `nz_` = New Zealand); open one country's doctors per call.
- A tool that works for one country says so at the start of its description: `lookup_terms` and `list_procedures` (United States), `search_gp_practices` and `public_waitlist` (New Zealand).
- Each country keeps its own daily allowance for opening doctors.
- The HTTP APIs are per country (below). New Zealand also has a New Zealand-only MCP address, listed under New Zealand.

## United States: US Doctor Finder

Search US physicians by condition, procedure and location, and read the sourced evidence behind each one (official US records and facts from hospital systems' own websites). MCP server and HTTP JSON API with the same tools. Overview: https://findadoctor.si/us/

No sign-up. Short lists are free; full evidence has a daily allowance. No sign-in is needed. An optional account key, sent as Authorization: Bearer, raises the daily allowance.

### Connect

- MCP (Streamable HTTP): https://api.findadoctor.si/mcp (the address for every country; pass `country=US`)
- HTTP API: https://api.findadoctor.si/api/v1/ (GET, JSON), described in https://api.findadoctor.si/openapi.json
- MCP server card: https://api.findadoctor.si/mcp/server-card
- The API host's own guide, with the same rules: https://api.findadoctor.si/llms.txt
- Setup guides, examples, Agent Skill and plugins (Claude Code, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI): https://github.com/simonlin1212/findadoctor-mcp

### How to use it

1. `search_doctors` (`GET /api/v1/search`): a free short list for a condition, procedure, specialty, place or name. Up to 10 results; paging stops at 30.
2. `get_doctor` (`GET /api/v1/doctors?ids=...`): evidence for up to 10 doctors you are seriously considering. Without an account, each network address can open 5 different doctors' evidence a day; with an account key, 100.
3. Tell the person to confirm insurance, new-patient status and the booking phone number with the practice.

- Pass `medicare_patient=true` for anyone 65 or older or on Medicare.
- For a metro area give `city`, `state` and `within_miles` (about 25; 5-10 in a dense city).
- Results are ranked by evidence of focus and experience, not by quality or outcomes. No private doctor rating, award or hospital ranking is included or counted in scores. Specialties come from each physician's NPI taxonomy code and CMS specialty, matched to the specialty names used here by their official names. The hospital and children's hospital websites we read were chosen partly from published lists.
- Read `warnings` (federal exclusion list, Medicare opt-out) before recommending anyone.
- Insurance cannot be filtered here, and languages and new-patient status cover only doctors whose hospital page lists them: when the person needs these and you can browse, find candidates on the web too, then check them here by name.
- Empty fields mean unknown, not "no".

### What's inside

- about 1.2 million US physicians from the federal NPI registry and CMS files.
- 81 procedure groups with Medicare 2024 volumes and national ranks.
- about 280,000 doctors with facts from their hospital system's website (what each page lists varies: languages, new-patient status, phones); for about 82,000 of them, listed focus areas as MeSH terms.
- Data version public-2026-10-13.2; service version 2026-10-15.1.

## New Zealand

Search New Zealand doctors (every practising doctor on the Medical Council register; clinic details for GPs, private specialists and some public-hospital doctors) by condition, procedure and place, read the facts behind each one (their Healthpoint listing and Medical Council registration, with links and read dates), and see Health NZ public waiting lists. MCP server and HTTP JSON API with the same tools. Overview: https://findadoctor.si/nz/

No sign-up. Short lists are free; full evidence has a daily allowance. No sign-in or key is needed. An optional account key (by invitation), sent as Authorization: Bearer, raises the daily allowance.

### Connect

- MCP (Streamable HTTP): https://api.findadoctor.si/mcp with `country=NZ` (the address for every country), or the New Zealand-only address https://api-nz.findadoctor.si/mcp
- HTTP API: https://api-nz.findadoctor.si/api/v1/ (GET, JSON), described in https://api-nz.findadoctor.si/openapi.json
- MCP server card: https://api-nz.findadoctor.si/mcp/server-card
- The API host's own guide, with the same rules: https://api-nz.findadoctor.si/llms.txt

### How to use it

1. `search_doctors` (`GET /api/v1/search`): a free short list for a need (a condition or procedure in plain English), specialty, place (city, suburb or region) or name. Up to 10 results; paging stops at 30.
2. `get_doctor` (`GET /api/v1/doctors?ids=...`): evidence for up to 10 doctors you are seriously considering. Without an account, each network address can open 5 different doctors' evidence a day; with an account key (by invitation), 100.
3. `public_waitlist` (`GET /api/v1/waitlist`): Health NZ public waiting lists by district and specialty, when the person is weighing public against private care.
4. Tell the person to confirm phone numbers, fees, insurer cover (often prior approval) and availability with the clinic and their insurer.

- Pass `child=true` when the patient is a child.
- Coverage: every practising doctor on the Medical Council register is here, but clinic details come from Healthpoint: private surgical specialists and GPs are well covered; clinic details are thinnest in musculoskeletal medicine 17%, palliative medicine 11%, psychiatry 6%, and for many public-hospital doctors. When results are few, say so and search the web too.
- Results are ranked by how directly the doctor's own listing matches the need, not by quality or outcomes.
- Empty fields mean unknown, not "no".

### What's inside

- about 21,000 practising doctors: the whole Medical Council of New Zealand public register.
- about 7,800 listed on Healthpoint, most with clinic address and phone; 1,233 list their own focus areas.
- Health NZ public waiting lists for 20 districts and 39 specialties (CC BY 4.0).
- Data version nz-public-2026-10-15.5; service version nz-2026-10-15.2.
